These are perhaps the last suriving pair of early HDXX Marantz speakers that still have the original open cell foam grills. Mine pictured here were my brothers from new and when he moved in 1988, I bought them from him. He always liberally sprayed the foam grills with Automotive grade silicone used for preserving rubber weatherstripping. It seems to have done them justice and here they are still intact more than 30 years later. I did, however, shrinkwrap tem and put them away in boxes for 20 years. I came to a time that I needed them last year so I pulled them back out to use in my entertainment center.
